Killing Eve

Review: ‘Killing Eve’ Season 3 Episode 3

Killing EveĀ kicked things up 18 notches in episode 3 of the new season as the mystery behind Kenny’s death deepens, and Villanelle finds Eve in London. That went as well as one could expect. One thing that’s striking about this series is how consistent it is. Each week, the writing, staging, and performance are solid, which makes the show a joy to watch. With that in mind, here are 5 takeaways from tonight’s show.

5. Creativity!

It’s hard to suppress the feeling of glee that comes over you when Villanelle kills someone in some whimsical ways. This week, she made creative use of a piano tuner.

4. The obsession –

Eve and Villanelle realize they are terrible for each other, but that won’t stop them from wanting each other. I loved how they incorporated a build a bear workshop in the show (it ties into point #4). The fight sequence was also a mixture of passion and intensity, which was great!

3. Eve’s mental recovery –

Eve hasn’t taken time to mentally come to grips with ex-girlfriend shooting her in Rome and leaving her for dead. With that being said, she certainly is giving off those signs of someone who wants to get back to where they were before Rome.

2. Something tells me that he’s not going to make it.

Something tells me that Mo will be collateral damage this season.

1. Favorite sequence to date –

I loved how this sequence was framed and shot from the vantage point of Villanelle’s gun. Not sure why everyone in the car wasn’t killed.
