This week’s episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels didn’t span across the city like the previous 5 but was the most emotional one this season by far. Detective Vega is faced with the guilt of letting his brother getaway and is now frantically trying to find a scapegoat without letting his partner know. Meanwhile, Vega’s brother seems all but lost to the gangster lifestyle, which gives little hope for his life expectancy on the show. Here are my 5 takeaways from Sunday night’s episode.
5. OMG –
Diego taking the fall for what Detective Vega’s brother did was tough to process, but if you think about it wasn’t shocking. How many Latinos confessed to crimes they didn’t do based on abuse from the police?
Rule one is that you never lie to your partner.
3. Good cop, Bad cop –
Adan Rocha’s facial expressions during this scene are what sold this scene. Rocha elevated most of this episode and deserved tons of praise.
